After training at Chouinard Art School, Jimmy Murakami began work at UPA on The McBoing BoingTV show and he did layout on their feature 1001 Nights. He then worked at Pintoff Studio in New York and Toei Studio in Japan, and at studios in Italy, France, The Netherlands and at Cartoon Films in Great Britain. Jimmy came back to Los Angeles in the early 1960s and co-founded Murakami/Wolf Films. In 1968 he was nominated for producing the short subject The Magic Pear Tree. In 1972 he moved to Ireland where he opened his own studio. His other film credits include 2nd unit director of the arial sequences in Roger Corman's live action film The Red Baron. He was Supervising Director on the BBC film The Snowman and directed the British feature When the Wind Blow. He was consultant on The Battle of the Stars and the BBC production of The Lion, The Witchand the Wardrobe. Throughout his career Jimmy has created short films of unique and fascinating subject and design. He made The Top with Fred Wolf and was the sole creator of Insects, Death of a Bullet, Passing, Breath and Good Friends.
