Gordon Bellamy

From the February 2008 Peg-Board

GORDON BELLAMY died on January 29 at the age of seventy, after a long struggle with a brain tumor.

Bellamy worked for Disney as an inbetweener on Sleeping Beauty, and on the Mr. Bubble commercials (rendering the original character), Big Blue Marble, Ruby-Spears, Bagdassarian, Rich Productions, Robert Smigel, and Warner Bros. Feature Animation. He taught storyboard classes at Pratt Manhattan.

After the 9/11 attacks, Bellamy - who lived two blocks from Ground Zero - did a series of drawings of his experiences that appeared in the Peg-Board. (Below, the view of the Twin Towers from his skylight.)

He is survived by his son Richard, daughter Fawn, sister Cecilia, life companion Dabni Harvey, and dog Vincent Van Dogh (with Gordon, above).
