Inker and designer JOYCE
CARLSON, one of the creators of "It's A Small World", "Walt
Disney's Carousel of Progress," "America Sings", "The
Haunted Mansion" and a number of other Disneyland attractions, died
on January 1 at the age of eighty-four.
Carlson joined Disney in 1944 as a traffic girl, then transferred to the Ink and Paint department and spent sixteen years on features such as Cinderella, Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty.
In 1962, she moved over to WED as a model maker for the 1964 World's Fair pavilions where she worked closely with Mary Blair and Marc Davis. In 2000 she was named a Disney Legend.
