TED KEY, best known as the originator of Hazel the maid in the Saturday Evening Post magazine cartoons of the 1950s. died May 3 at the age of ninety-five.
In the world of animation, Key will be remembered as the originator of the characters of Mr. Peabody and Sherman for Jay Ward in the late 1950s. He also wrote Showdown At Ulcer Gulch, an animated promo for the Saturday Evening Post that was produced and directed by Shamus Culhane. Key wrote the screenplay for the live-action Disney movie The Cat From Outer Space, and the stories for Digby - The Biggest Dog In The World, The Million Dollar Duck and Gus.
