Animator, director and Golden Award winner RUDY LARRIVA died February 16 at the age of ninety-three.
Larriva began at Warner Bros. in 1937, and first got screen credit on “Dog Gone Modern,” directed by Chuck Jones. He later worked as an animator for UPA (on Gerald McBoing-Boing and Mr. Magoo cartoons), Format, DePatie-Freleng, Filmation and Disney. He directed Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner cartoons for WB, as well as shows for Filmation, Bagdassarian and Ruby-Spears. He also directed the animation for the opening sequence of the original Twilight Zone TV series.
He received the Animation Guild Golden Award in 1987, three years before his retirement.
