Animator and master caricaturist BEN SHENKMAN died on
April 14 at the age of eighty-two. From 1930 until his retirement in 1979
he worked for Fleischer, Warner Bros., DePatie-Freleng, Pantomime, Sanrio
and Filmation.
Shenkman was known throughout the industry for his flair for caricature,
best displayed in classic Warners shorts such as Hollywood Steps Out
. His work can also be seen in all of the Golden Award program books and
Screen Cartoonist Annuals. In 1984 he received the Motion Picture Screen
Cartoonists Golden Award.
